Abstract

In Paraíba, fruit production has increased in planted area and species diversity, with mango playing a significant role in various regions. It is predominantly cultivated by family farmers. This study aimed to assess the dynamics of mango production in Paraíba from 2002 to 2022. Data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) Agricultural Municipal Survey (2002-2022) were utilized to evaluate six variables related to mango production. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was employed to comprehend the interrelations over time. Mango production in Paraíba experienced a substantial contraction from 2002 to 2022, marked by reductions in harvested and cultivated areas, as well as in quantity produced and productivity. PCA revealed a strong association between quantity produced, cultivated area, and productivity, contrasting with production value.
