Os impactos dos cuidados paliativos em demência senil: uma revisão integrativa

O conhecimento científico-tecnológico vem avançando rapidamente, contribuindo para a melhoria da qualidade de vida da população. Nesse contexto, o incremento no bem-estar geral populacional culminou em um envelhecimento de seus indivíduos, o que propiciou uma maior ocorrência de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis, tal qual a demência. Diante disso, essa pesquisa promoverá a realização de uma investigação analítica a respeito dos cuidados paliativos concedidos aos pacientes idosos com demência, tomando como
objetivo norteador quais seriam os impactos práticos originados pelo tratamento paliativo no prognóstico de demência na senilidade. Nesse sentido, no que se refere à execução temática do projeto, vê-se um enfoque maior dado ao estudo dos cuidados paliativos como um tratamento moderno na redução de determinados fatores de saúde vigentes na demência, a exemplo o tempo de re-hospitalização do paciente e a intensidade dos sintomas, em relação a outros métodos tradicionais de tratamento. Para uma melhor delimitação temática da investigação, classifica-se os artigos, decompondoos em 3 subcategorias: tratamentos medicamentosos preconizados, tratamento inovadores - objeto de estudo central dessa pesquisa -, e tratamentos convencionais, mas incompatíveis com a realidade paliativa. Os bancos de dados utilizados como base investigativa do tema foram PubMed e BVS, e o rastreio de descritores foi feito por meio
do DeCS, realizando-se a combinação entre inglês e português. Os textos científicos utilizados necessariamente foram produzidos nos últimos 5 anos, chegando-se ao número total de 34 artigos analisados. Após um estudo exaustivo desses 34 artigos, 20 foram os selecionados para a elaboração dessa revisão integrativa de literatura. Ao final da investigação, concluiu-se que os cuidados paliativos são passíveis de redução da quantidade de hospitalizações e do melhoramento da qualidade de vida, levando-se em
conta, porém, fatores externos influenciadores desse tratamento.
