RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEANINGFUL LEARNING AND CONTACT WITH NATURE

Abstract

Contact with nature begins in childhood, perception and introduction to natural sciences should be introduced in the first years of life. The objective of this article was to describe the concept of meaningful learning, in addition to discussing the relationship with learning in nature and with environmental education, and how this means of teaching impacts on children's lives. The methodology adopted is based on the deductive method of research, through a bibliographical and documental compilation. In view of the results obtained with the relevance of the subject studied, the great benefits brought by contact with nature are evident, bringing children more active, less stressed, less interested in electronic equipment, less anxious and happier.

Author Biographies

Vivian da Silva Braz

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasília (2000), Master in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2003) and PhD in Ecology from the University of Brasília (2008). Lecturer at Universidade Evangélica de Goiás, GO, working in the courses of Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Pedagogy and in the Graduate Program in Society, Technology and Environment. He is part of the Environmental Education Nucleus of the Evangelical University of Goiás, where he collaborates with research, teaching and extension projects. He is a member of the Committee on Ethics in the Use of Animals (CEUA). He has experience in the area of ​​Ecology, with an emphasis on Biodiversity Conservation, working mainly on the following topics: Ecology, Environmental Education, Cerrado, avifauna, biodiversity conservation, endangered species and protected areas.

Giovana Galvão Tavares, UniEvangélica

Graduated in Geography from the Federal University of Goiás (1993). Specialization in Geosciences, master's degree in Teaching and History of Earth Sciences (2000) and PhD in Sciences (2010) by the Institute of Geosciences of the State University of Campinas. Professor at the Evangelical University of Goiás (UniEVANGELICA) working in the Graduate Course in Medicine (Collective Health area) and in the Graduate Program (stricto sensu) in Society, Technology and Environment (PPG STMA). Advisor for scientific initiation projects; extension projects; master's dissertations and doctoral theses. She currently occupies the deputy coordinator of the PPG STMA. He has experience in the field of Environmental Sciences. He coordinates the Territory, Environmental Education and Health research group. Coordinates research projects involving the themes: a) pesticide poisoning; and, b) natural disasters, both themes involving the human being's illness process, in addition to research in environmental education and teaching practices. Coordinates the Environmental Education Center: Agnes W. Chagas - UniEVANGELICA, developing extension projects in partnerships with public bodies (SEMUSA and COMPDEC ) of the Municipality of Anápolis and with a Non-Governmental Organization.
