ASPECTS OF THE ACQUISITION OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT MUTATION BY STUDENTS OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Mutations represent a topic of great relevance to the context of Biology, being associated with several sub-areas of biological knowledge. Its understanding must be carried out in depth, especially when considering higher education students. In this context, the present work aims to identify the aspects that are involved with the acquisition of knowledge about mutations. A qualitative-quantitative research was carried out with students of a Licentiate in Biological Sciences at a public university in the city of Iguatu-CE. Students from the 5th to the 9th semester were interviewed, and the data were collected through the application of a questionnaire. Based on the results, it is concluded that mutations are part of students' knowledge at the undergraduate level, and their deepening is necessary in view of their great relevance to the general context of learning.
