Abstract

Genetics is a branch of biology that has advanced the logo of the years. Your study should provide knowledge for a good academic performance and for an adequate association with daily life. The present study aimed to identify as Biological Sciences students associated with knowledge about Genetics with aspects of everyday life. A qualitative research was carried out with 60 students of the Biological Sciences course at the Faculty of Education, Sciences and Letters of Iguatu, in the state of Ceará. The data were collected using a question application, maintaining the ethical and legal aspects of the research. It was identified that students have knowledge about Genetics, associating themselves with different points of their day. Such knowledge was used in health and food, including frequently present on social media. It was concluded with this research that Genetics is widely present in the life of the students of the investigated course.

É professora do Curso de Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Estadual do Ceará - UECE / Faculdade de Educação, Ciências e Letras de Iguatu - FECLI. Engenheira Agrônoma pela Universidade Federal do Ceará, Campus Cariri (2013). Mestre em Agronomia/Fitotecnia com ênfase em Genética e Melhoramento de Plantas, pela Universidade Federal do Ceará (2016) e Doutora pelo mesmo programa (2020). Participou do Grupo de Pesquisa e Extensão em Agroecologia (GPEA) e do Núcleo de Estudo em Fitotecnia e Melhoramento de Plantas (NEFIMP).
