Abstract

The residues generated in the sugarcane industry such as filter cake, bagasse and boiler ash can be used as alternative substrates in the production of sugarcane Pre-sprouted Seedlings (MPB). The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of alternative substrates for the production of pre-sprouted sugarcane seedlings, from residues generated by the sugarcane industry. The design used was a completely randomized design with 8 treatments and 5 replications, totaling 40 experimental plots, each plot was represented by 1 tube. The treatments consisted of sugarcane residues, using the following proportions: T1 = control 100% commercial substrate (Tropstrato); T2 = 50% boiler ash + 50% filter cake; T3 = 50% filter cake + 50% bagasse; T4 = 50% boiler ash + 50% bagasse; T5 = 100% filter cake; T6 = 100% bagasse; T7 = 100% boiler ash; T8 = 33.33% bagasse + 33.33% boiler ash + 33.33% filter cake. The variables evaluated were: Stem diameter (DIAM); fresh shoot mass (MFPA); fresh root mass (MFR); shoot dry mass (MSPA); root dry mass (MSR). The T6 treatment presented inferior results to the other treatments as average reduction of 1,03g of MSPA. The T8 treatment proved to be a great option for the production of pre-sprouted seedlings, as it was observed in the statistical analysis superior results for the variables: DAM, MFPA, MSPA and MSR, besides being composed by the main residues of the sugarcane industry, Easy access and low cost.
