Abstract

The objective of the work was to evaluate the physical-chemical characteristics of the water supplied in public schools in the State of Pará. Samples of water was collected from 7 public schools, 3 schools in the municipality of Belém and 4 schools in the municipality of Ananindeua, being water from artesian wells and the public supply of the municipality. It was observed that only in the analyzes of pH, chlorides and color did all the samples analyzed present according to the legislation, however in relation to the analysis of iron, turbidity and total hardness, some samples were outside the limits established by the legislation, especially for turbidity, where all samples are with extremely higher limits than required by law.
