ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION APPLIED TO THE PRODUCTION OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER IN A SCHOOL UNIT

The involvement of environmental actions related to practical activities is one of the best ways to attract the attention of adolescents. This work promotes environmental education in a school unit in the district of Rio Verde, Goiás, through the implementation of a composting model. Three tests were applied to identify the degree of knowledge in relation to students' environmental awareness, one being initial, after a lecture and 60 days after the implementation of the composition at school. The production of fertilizer was through composting implanted in the school. Note that even after 60 days, there was assimilation of knowledge by students compared to the questionnaire applied before the lecture. Therefore, the teaching method contributed to actively involve students, through practices, consolidating, building new knowledge, as well as to understand concepts not yet understood, improving current and future habits.
